Adding Games To Your Arcade

Okay, before we start adding games to our arcade we will want to change a few settings in our arcade configuration control panel. In your browser go to www.yourdomain.com/admin/ and login to the back-end of your arcade. Then click on the ‘Site Configurations’ menu option previously shown in Figure 4-1.

Scroll down the ‘Site Configurations’ page and you will see the column titled ‘Mochi Games Customer Number’ which was shown back in Hour 4. You will want to enter your publisher id in the ‘Mochi Games Customer Number’ textbox. The publisher id is the ID we just retrieved back in Figure 5-4.

The setting after the ‘Mochi Games Customer Number’ is the ‘Number Of Games To Pull From Mochiads’. This is the amount of games we want to add to our arcade when we run our grabgames.php file. Just to make sure everything is working okay we will want to try a small number. Change this textbox from 0 to 10. Finally we want to save these settings, so scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the ‘Update Configuration’ button.

Now lets try and add those 10 games to our arcade. From your browser navigate to www.yourdomain.com/mochi/grabgames.php. This may take just a little while for the page to fully load. If the file loads successfully you will see a list of games displayed on the page which will look similar to the following:

The page will display all the games that are being added to your arcade. If you entered 10 in the ‘amount of games to pull from mochi’ textbox you will see a list of 10 games in the list. Each game will be added into the according category.

So if everything above went swimmingly then we’ll want to go ahead and add more and more games to your arcade. Let’s do that. Go back into your arcade control panel, click on the ‘Site Configurations’ menu, scroll down to the ‘‘Number Of Games To Pull From Mochiads’ textbox, enter a higher number such as 1000 into the textbox, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Update Configuration’ Button.

Once again, navigate to www.yourdomain.com/mochi/grabgames.php and the page will start loading. If you added a high number such as 1000 or higher it may take awhile for the page to load. Just give it some time and eventually the page will finish loading with a long list of games that have currently been added to your arcade.

You can continue to login to your arcade control panel and change the amount of games you would like to add. You can add all the games that are currently in the mochiads library. You will know that you’ve reached the end of the list when you load the grabgames.php and the file loads right away. You can continue adding more games to your arcade as mochi gets new games added to their library everyday. You may want to change the name of the mochi folder on your hosting server, just so that when someone visits your arcade they will not know where your files are located. There is no security vulnerability if you do not change the name; however, it may be something you want to do.

After you have finished adding all the games to your arcade you can visit your arcade domain and you will see that you now have a fully functioning web arcade. You can play games, create a new account, rate games, and several other arcade functionality!
