Lunch Hour

Congratulations on making it halfway through your 8 hour day web arcade! The next four hours are very exciting. In the next hour we will add games to your arcade and the hour after that we will walk you through changing the appearance of your arcade.

Before we dive into the next 4 hours you are going to need a lunch break. But before you heat up your Friday night leftover pizza or grab a bag of chips and soda, we are going to introduce you to a flash game community. The flash game community will be the place we are going to get our games in the upcoming hour. We will show you how to sign up in the community so you can have fun playing some flash games as you enjoy your lunch.

The community that we are talking about is MochiAds.com. MochiAds is an in game advertisement company. In game advertisements are ads that are displayed inside the flash games. The MochiAds community allows users to sign up as three different types of users: Developers, Advertisers, and Publishers. We are going to sign up as a Publisher. A Publisher account is a free service which gives us access to hundreds of free games to add to our arcade. The great thing about signing up as a publisher is that we will make some profit from these games being played in our arcade. Lets move on to signing you up as a publisher. In your browser navigate to www.mochiads.com and click on the ‘Publishers’ button to the top right of the screen as shown in Figure L-1.

When you are at the MochiAds Publisher page you are going to click on the Sign Up button. On the following page you should see a screen similar to the one shown in Figure L-2.

After you have filled in all the required information click the ‘SEND’ button. You have now created a new MochiAds Publisher account. You will automatically be logged into your account which will look similar to Figure L-3.

The only thing that we are going to be doing from this screen is setting up our domain where we will be hosting the games. So click on the ‘Setup the domain where you’ll be hosting games’ button to continue. You will now find yourself in front of a screen that contains the following Figure L-4.

In order to verify that we are the owner of our domain we must upload a verification file to our server. Click on the ‘verification file’ link shown above in Figure L-4. This will download an html file to our computer. Save this file to your desktop or to an easily accessible location. After this file is downloaded to your computer go to that location. We will now need to copy this verification file to our host computer.

Open up the filezilla application and login as we had previous shown you how to do back in Figure 3-5. In the host computer section open up the ‘public_html’ or ‘www’ directory and copy the verification file to that directory.

After you have copied the verification file to the ‘public_html’ or ‘www’ directory of your host computer navigate back to the page as shown above in Figure L-4.

We are going to enter our domain name ‘www.yourdomain.com’ into the textbox in step of Figure L-4 and click the ‘SAVE’ button. After clicking the save button you should be in front of a screen as shown in Figure L-5.

Finally on this page click the ‘VERIFY DOMAIN’ button and if you uploaded the verification file successfully to your domain root directory you should be shown a verification screen similar to        Figure L-6.

After you have verified your site we can begin playing a few games. We have verified our site so that we can add thousands of games to our flash arcade, we will show you more in the next hour.

Finally you can click on the ‘GAMES’ button at the top right of the screen, Figure L-7.

In this section you can begin playing some of the flash games we will be adding to our arcade. So check out the thousands of games that MochiAds has to offer.
